Everyone in the country knows Alabama needs a little help with education. Here are my plans to help education.
Alabama Education Reform
Fund Raising for Schools
It is no surprise that city school systems tend to fair better than county school systems in our state. The top 10 school systems in the state are all city school systems.
Why are city school systems better than county school systems? I tend to believe it is because of localized parental involvement along with city funds specifically earmarked for local school projects.
A city can propose a law that a certain percentage of sales tax collected HAS to go toward the school system.
PLUS there is a higher sense of accountability. If a city school system fails it will go to county control. Most of our city school systems purposefully broke away from county control to aid their faltering schools. I believe this will be one key component to getting our schools to where they need to be.
Localized Funding Efforts
I would also like to implement a strategy to gain affiliate revenue for our schools. Utilizing Walmart and Amazon affiliate programs I would like to set-up a system for each school system to gain at minimum 4% of every dollar spent on school supplies via this system back into their schools.
This methodology would require no laws to be passed, only parent/teacher commitment. Since no law would need to be passed I am willing to assist any school system in setting up this system BEFORE being elected Governor of Alabama.
I CANNOT stress how important I feel about this, and my willingness to work with our current administration on this.
Higher Standards of Accountability
The state dropout age will raise to 18 years of age from 17.
Alternative Education will be geared at counseling youth to become successful in the classroom.
Ideally, we will take Alabama’s graduation and increase it, so that it increases with the next generation, and so on, until we have a near perfect graduation rate.
Hopefully, this will provide the basic ideas that I want to accomplish as Governor of Alabama.
