Do I have any issues with the Governor stealing my master plan? No… because that is exactly what I want… my plan in action.
I could go the way of the Internet get all butt-hurt over having my plan in stolen from me. Truth is, I don’t mind. My goal is to see Alabama become great. If my plan is implemented without me, so be it. Just use my plan.
Grocery Tax Elimination
My plan, of course, was my “Alabama Grocery Tax Elimination” plan. Governor Bentley has signed an executive order to create a 13 member task force to see the impact on grocery tax elimination on the budget.
I announced this plan here on September 5, 2016.
I then dropped the gauntlet on December 13, 2016.
To quote me for those that don’t want to read the post itself.
Let’s talk about the grocery tax, OR how I plan to use a website to raise money for our education fund to help prevent our schools from “sucking.”
Go ahead Bentley, your move…. you know where to find me.
The Cart Before the Horse
Let’s talk a little bit about prophecy. I can accurately predict that there is going to be a backlash about the elimination. The reason is easy. The Alabama grocery tax itself generates over $100 million to the state education fund.
This number will be grossly inflated by state “economists” and will more than likely be quoted at around $400 Million.
How will we ever replace that money? I can accomplish this, but I don’t believe in politics.
The politics are really simple.
Republicans that support the tax will say they supported a cut that Democrats squashed.
Republicans that are against the cut will say their liberal counterparts that supported the cut wanted to cut $400 Million from our children.
I couldn’t care less about your politics or gerrymandering tactics. I can cut the tax AND replace the money.
How can I do it?
Again…. call me Bentley… you know where to find me.
Thanks for your continued support,
