I take supplements everyday. It is really tough in a fast food culture to get the proper micro and macro-nutrients. Obviously the only Macro nutrient I supplement is protein. However to get a full range of micro-nutrients you are going to need daily supplements (Vitamins).
My Recommended Daily Supplements
Every one should take a multivitamin. You should also stay hydrated. This is almost a little game I like to play. You take the vitamin, then drink until your pee is clear. If you work out a good bit, and especially if you sweat a lot, you probably need more than the recommended dose.
I find things like Animal Pak’s a bit pricey, but they are very effective. I try to be a little more budget friendly. I personally use these. Rather than taking the one daily, and hoping for the best, I take one in the morning and one closer to the afternoon. To get a constant vitamin flow.
Most people take a dose first thing in the morning that is HUGE, and basically all you are doing is creating yourself expensive urine.
I wake up at 4 AM every day (even Sunday). I need something for energy. For energy I personally take Xenadrine. It is marketed as a “fat burner,” well bad news the only way you burn fat is a calorie deficit and movement. BUT this will give you a ton of energy to get you moving.
If you are more into a “pre-workout” drink for energy, my recommendation is Cellucor C4 50X. This stuff is hands down the best supplement for pre-workout energy. Please do yourself a favor… don’t mix these two.
Muscle Milk is my go to for protein supplementation. I typically buy the RTD version, because it is lower calorie, than if I make it myself. When I make it myself I always use milk. I find the scoop mixed with milk to be a little more gentle on my stomach.
That is pretty much it. No more supplements. I don’t buy into the hype. Everything I take I can either see the results or feel the results. If you ever decide to go rogue and buy supplements make sure you are keeping track of the results. If it isn’t measurable, it isn’t worth your money.
