If you came to this article expecting some scientific study that resulted in dozens of findings, you are in the wrong place. I know health and wealth are related, because they HAVE to be.
If for you have yet to make the connection just follow me on this one. Do unhealthy people always seem to be broke and unsuccessful?
The relationship of Health and Wealth
So if something is correlated that means that one causes the other. So by my logic Healthy people are Wealthy, and Wealthy people are Healthy.
Here is the issue… Just because it is connected doesn’t mean it is the cause. Here is what I can promise.
You will be a better version of yourself if you are healthy.
Follow my logic here. If you are on a job interview and considering everything to be equal except appearances who would you hire a healthy looking person, or an overweight person?
You would obviously hire the healthy person. Because even if we are fat (trust me I was fat) we still have a disposition to think a fat person is lazier, than someone that isn’t fat. Is this a form of discrimination? Possibly, but I am not the judge on that one.
Do you know a good looking sales person? Are they successful? Obviously they are more successful than those of us that have to use a sales skill set.
So now I pose the question does being healthy make you rich? No of course it doesn’t make you rich (professional athletes aside), but it does make you richer!
Does the formula reverse?
So if you are Wealthy does that make you healthier? I think we know the answer. Money buys food, and food can make you fat. So it could really amplify the problem. Health and Wealth are more closely related than Wealth and Health.
However, in a study of millionaires, it was discovered that most people worth more than a million dollars actually exercised regularly. Did the exercise make them rich? Maybe… Did being rich cause them to exercise? Probably not. Unless of course they made money in the health and wellness field, it probably didn’t impact their bottom line. Who knows they may have sold dietary supplements?
