Let’s suppose for a minute you are given a racehorse. It is the finest thoroughbred prize-winning horse money can buy. The problem…You have to care for it. Of course, we are going to assume you know what to do. So what WOULD you do?
Your Million Dollar Racehorse
I am sure you would have big plans for your horse. You would take care of it. You would clean it. Let the finest vets check it out because at the end of the day I know what your big plan would be–
The horse shows very little emotion. It doesn’t know any better when it comes to its diet and training. All you have to do is follow the plan, and you will win.
You have access to something beyond a million dollar race horse. You have a million dollar mind and body.
So all you have to do is follow the plan.
Follow the diet
Follow the exercise routine
You are your prize
Now that I am a father, and I have friends with kids I have noticed a consistent theme to parenting. Hypocrisy! Think about it, most people believe the key to raising their children is to teach them to do the things they never did. Sometimes it is to teach their kids to do things they were never ABLE to do.
The problem with this is the logic is flawed. Yesterday has already happened.
The parents are still alive! The only time to stop being your own million dollar racehorse is tomorrow. And tomorrow never comes.
Why Give Up on Yourself?
I do believe my kids are going to become something greater than I ever became. But my goal is to become greater than myself. A child will typically become better than his or her parents. The issue is if YOU, as the parent, sold yourself short.
Why would you expect your child to be anything aside from fat and lazy if you have become fat and lazy? They will learn that and become fatter and lazier (better right?) than you because that is the impact you had.
