What is the modern version of beauty? I’ll tell you what it is… crazy. Sorry ladies and gentlemen, but it is completely possible that you are not attractive in the least, and it is ludicrous to tell the rest of us that we have to think you are. I’m not preaching from some high horse. I am overweight and know for a fact some people don’t find me attractive, and that is okay. Knowing this, it would be insane for me to think that a woman is a bad person if she is not as attracted to me as she is some muscular Hollywood sex symbol. However, that is exactly what we are being fed these days.
Modern Day Beauty Queens
Some of you might think I’m a bad person for saying this, but personally, I think Amy Schumer looks a lot like a baby manatee and is more annoying. If you believe that though, a lot of people will treat you like you’re a baby seal clubbing Nazi misogynist. I hate to tell you ladies, but if you can show me a man that would rather spend an evening with Amy Schumer as opposed to someone like Scarlett Johansson I will show you a man who is either a liar or a homosexual in denial.
You remember the old adage, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?” That works both ways. Most of the time, it is meant to make someone feel better about themselves for being unattractive. I have just as much right to think you’re ugly as I do to think you are beautiful. The difference is, the latter doesn’t make you feel good about yourself so I must be a bad person for thinking it.
So what is changing this perception of beauty? Why aren’t more men and women striving for that “unrealistic expectation of beauty” and settling for what they are? The answer is simple: if the perception of beauty can be changed so that you have to think everyone is beautiful or you are a bad person, instead of having to exercise and watch their diet to be found attractive they can just sit on the couch watching reality TV eating Cheetos.
