Nihilism is a reckless thought process that a lot of people follow, mostly without knowing it.
Nihilism can be simply defined by saying life has no true purpose or meaning. And I know exactly what you are thinking.
“Drew, a lot of people don’t follow that”
That isn’t the case, you may be nihilistic and not even know it.
I had a discussion the other day with a friend about starting a business. My premise was simple.
“What if you started a business you could do completely in your spare time, dedicate 3 hours a day to it, every day, for 3 years solid. You made absolutely no money your first 3 years, and only lost 10 cents of money every day. However after 3 years you were set for life!”
Here is the question… would you do that?
I believe everyone would answer yes to that question.
Nihilism is killing your waist line
Before I go on with the story about the business, lets talk about YOUR reckless lifestyle. My blog is read mostly by Americans. So that means I can assume 2 things about you… English is your primary language, and you are
As Americans, we don’t believe life has a purpose. And we can tell that by the way we eat. We eat WAY TOO MUCH! Yet you can’t find an American that doesn’t know being
fat overweight leads to health problems.
The first part of being a Nihilist is not caring about life. If you eat to kill yourself, you do not care about your life.
Don’t even get me started about smoking.
Nihilism is killing your finances
I love this post! I get to talk about wealth AND health in the same post!
Everyone loves to misquote the bible and say that money is the root of all evil. Your mom is the root of all evil.
The mindset is that we need to get rid of it because it is bad. Here is a fact 100% of churches, orphanages, and other charitable organizations were built with money.
I need food, I need oxygen, and I also need money. (FYI for all of you bible scholars out there… the quote is supposed to say “loving money is the cause of many types of evil” and that holds true to this day).
Second part of financial destruction
You are probably thinking I just don’t have enough money… that is my problem.
The amount of money you have depends on the amount of money you spend. NOT the amount of money you make.
If you make lots of money, and never spend it…. it will magically attract more money. If you make a little money, and never spend it, you will also attract money.
The difference is most people think that they have to have a certain life style.
“What does that have to do with nihilism?”
Glad you asked… If you are a Nihilist, and you believe life has no purpose, then you live to die. So why would you every save one penny to build something greater than yourself if you don’t believe you have a purpose?
At one point in time I got down… really down. I blamed the world. When I should have blamed me. It was my fault. The only person in this entire world I can control is me.
When your life has no purpose, how do you expect to ever be anything?
If you, too, want to recover, I recommend setting some goals.
