Pat Flynn is the person behind the website smartpassiveincome.com. Basically, he tells the story on his site about how he went from losing his job to creating a living online.
The thing I love about Pat Flynn is he is an open book. He tells you what does and doesn’t work, and he tells you how he gets there. He even releases his monthly income statement, as well as where his money goes. Today, we will be focusing on how he makes his money.
This breakdown is from his April 2016 earnings:
His gross monthly income was $166,123.99
The largest portion of his income comes from Affiliate Marketing. Basically in Pat’s case (as well as mine) he will write a blog post, that has links to a product, people buy the product, and he (we) makes a profit.
His blog is basically about creating an income via online business ventures. The awesome part about that is he makes the majority of his money via hosting reselling at Bluehost.com. Basically you click the link to create an awesome blog like his to make money, and he makes money. (not a bad plan)
The next portion of his income statement is his books sales. He makes around $10,000 a month off of this. Which to you and I is HUGE! However, for him, that is sadly just a small portion of his income. You can find his books on amazon.com.
This is the part that gets a little weird for me. (And makes people hate Pat). Pat’s biggest advice is to create a niche site (with bluehost.com) and sell a niche product. Well, that may be where Pat Flynn got his start, however, that is not where he makes his money today. Only around $5,000 a month comes from these sites (which again sounds huge but is only a small portion of his income).
I personally can’t get too mad at Pat for the niche site thing, because well… most people would be more than happy to make $5,000 a month on their website.
