People tell me all the time they want to write a book. I personally believe the fear of not getting it published is the hindrance that keeps people from publishing a book. I am here to tear the mask off of publishing, and let you know how easy it is to publish a book on Amazon.com.
How to Publish a Book on Amazon
First… you need to write a book. Fiction, non-fiction, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is you write. Write something down every day. Then edit that. Let me explain. If you don’t have a book to publish you can’t publish a book it is that simple.
Don’t worry too much about grammar, you will read through it and correct it. PLUS you can use spell check. I make errors all the time on this blog, and I am sure there are errors in my book. Don’t fret, every book has an error, you just haven’t read it yet.
Write everything in word, or something like that. I prefer word or open office. It will save hours of time editing.
After you finish writing you need 3 things. A table of contents, a copyright page, and a cover.
Word can make you a table of contents. You can google a copyright page, and format it to your book… To make a cover I recommend photoshop.
You could create your book cover in Paint. I wouldn’t recommend it, but you could.
It is really that easy. You then create your KDP account, and upload your book.
Then in a couple of days you too are a published author.
Tips for Publishing
Don’t use any crazy fonts-no one wants to read your book in wingdings.
Be unique- naming your book something very generic is going to get you put with all the other generic books with that title.
Publish, but not too soon- My book had a point, because it is non-fiction. My story ended. However if you are going to do fiction make sure your book is above 100 pages, if you want people to actually buy it. If you want to give something away free, then by all means publish your short story, but please avoid the bad reviews. Don’t charge $8.99 for you 20 page book.
Don’t devalue your work- If you feel like your book is worth more than you can get on kindle, there are many self-publishing options to get a tangible book, and when it is a real product, the sky is the limit to how much you can charge.
