My blog (unlike Donald Trump), is very popular with the ladies. I published the Tape Measure Test for Men, and it was great! I am sure there are thousands of men measuring their guts everywhere thanks to that post. However, I want to give the ladies fair treatment. So, now the tape measure test for women…
The reason I didn’t post them together is easy… I try to limit a post between 300, and 1000 words. AND a tape measure test for women isn’t exactly a simple process.
Basically, I outlined in my other post, that the scale lies. Meaning you can gain muscle, and lose fat. A 130 lbs woman isn’t the same as any other 130 lbs woman. The reason is the distribution of body fat. This test is a lot different than the test for men.
Tape Measure Test for Women
Women are built differently than men. Men are built to be big, and smash things. Women are built to endure long painful processes like labor, menstruation, and putting up with big stupid men.
The men store excess fat right in their gut. Women, however, don’t. They actually have a use for larger fat stores. Evolutionarily speaking men only need enough fat to go a few days without eating. Women need the fat to endure the things mentioned above. Hence why a woman with a higher body fat percentage can look good than a man with the same body fat percentage (curves vs beer gut).
In order to ignore the scale and get a good indicator of body fat, you will need to take 4 measurements, rather than the 1 measurement for men.
Your small belly is literally the small part of your belly below your ribs. Women typically don’t get beer guts so they don’t have a rounded keg hanging over their belt. So you will need to go around 2 inches above your belly button to find this point.
Triple B (Belly Button Belly)
This is typically slightly larger than the other portion, hence why I call that one the small belly. Try to go around your belly button, keeping the tape measure as close to being parallel to the ground as possible. This measurement is a little tricky because the tape measure will have a tendency to angle itself and you want the truest measurement possible.
This should be the largest point of the hips possible, and it is typically the most hated measurement by most women. This measurement is equal to the man’s belly measurement. Guys hate their gut number unless they have a 6 pack, but it is just the way humans are made, don’t fret over it.
Welcome to the gun show…. now performing you. You need a good arm measurement. Ever heard of maw maw arms? Yep, this is just another sneaky fat store. So be sure you measure around the bicep. Some people recommend around the wrist. It is your call. I personally believe the bicep is a better sign.
Lastly, how can I measure all of this and keep up??? I have 2 solutions. One is a tape measure and a piece of paper/app on your phone. That is boring, but it works.
The second is buying this inexpensive tape measure. This is what I use, and it lets you store your measurements.
