Do you think? Have you ever thought? No, I mean really thought. You know to the point that you wished you could stop thinking something, but you can’t stop thinking it.
It is like when you ponder the meaning of life.
What is the purpose? Am I really that important? What if I am not important? What if I was supposed to be important, but am not living up to my potential?
We call this human consciousness.
Think The beginning of consciousness.
Can you actually think on your own? Obvious answer is obvious. Yes, you can!
But can you really think on your own?
I would argue that you can’t.
Before I lose you, think for a second.
That thought you just had… was it in English?
Every thought you have someone else had
When you think, you think in a language. That language was taught to you. Studying the Bible growing up we were taught that the Bible had multiple words that all were translated to the word love. Meaning there is obviously a language barrier to your expression of a thought.
Think about this…
When you were born you were born without language.
You were also born without thought.
Everything you think has been put into your mind by something else.
Let’s take a small example. If you put something into your mouth that is hot, you grab your drink and cool your mouth. (arguably the smart option)
A child doesn’t do this. They spit, then cry. (probably the better option)
The former is socially acceptable. Although evolution wouldn’t teach us that. Why not? Evolution is uncontrolled thought. Instinct. Think hand being removed from the hot eye on a stove.
Think: The Point
Next time you have an opinion remember, you were taught that opinion. How do I know? Because you have an opinion.
Proof: I have no opinion of this board game. The reason is simple I have never heard of it, and will probably never play it.
If you came to me and told me… you know that game you mentioned on your blog… I bought it and love it.
I would then have an opinion.
- Because you purchased the game, I made money
- Since you liked the game, I will be more inclined to like it
You would have created my confirmation that I needed to have an opinion. It is really that simple. That is until someone comes by and tells me it is awful. Then I have a mixed bag of emotion going on and ultimately side with who I like more.
Amazing in a republic this is how we pick our leaders.
